Nurse-led care, planned around you
Live-in Care
Live-in care offers support in your own home when visiting care may no longer meet your needs. It can help preserve familiar surroundings, relationships and daily routines while providing more consistent assistance.
Could live-in care suit your household?
Live-in care may suit someone who needs regular support throughout the day and prefers to remain at home. It can provide a more consistent presence than separate visiting calls, while keeping personal routines and familiar surroundings central to the plan. An assessment helps establish whether the person's needs can be met safely through this arrangement.
Support throughout the day
The agreed care plan may include a combination of:
Personal care and daily routines
Respectful help with washing, dressing and everyday activities, at the times and in the way agreed with the person.
Meals and household routines
Help with meal preparation and agreed day-to-day tasks that support comfort at home.
Companionship and activities
Conversation and support to take part in familiar interests or agreed activities, shaped around the person's preferences.
Medication support
Prompting or assistance only at the level assessed and agreed, and within the carer's training and competence. Support is recorded as required.
Mobility and reassurance
Support with moving around the home and daily routines in line with the care plan and relevant risk assessments.
Communication with family
Care-related updates can be shared with agreed contacts where appropriate, with the person's consent and confidentiality respected.
All support is subject to assessment, the agreed care plan and our carers' training and competence. Additional activities must fit safely within the agreed visit time without displacing essential care.
Planning for the person and the home
A suitable home arrangement
We discuss the home environment, privacy, day-to-day arrangements and the practical needs of a carer living in the home before agreeing a package.
Rest and overnight needs
Live-in care includes rest and breaks for the carer. We discuss night-time needs separately and agree whether additional waking-night support may be needed.
A familiar team
We aim for continuity through a small team, with introductions or handovers where reasonably practicable. The same carer cannot be guaranteed at all times.
Arranging live-in care
Talk through daily support
Tell us what help is needed during the day and night, what is already working well and what the person wants to maintain at home.
Assess needs and the home
We discuss care needs, risks, routines, the home environment and practical arrangements for a carer to stay in the home.
Agree the care package
Before care begins, we agree the tasks, staffing and handover arrangements, costs, visit and rest arrangements, and any additional overnight cover.
Review the arrangement
We review support with the person and, where appropriate, their representative, especially when needs or circumstances change.
Care records and reviews
The carer records support provided and relevant observations in the care record. Medication support is recorded in the appropriate medication record. We discuss concerns through the agreed reporting arrangements and review the plan when needs, risks or the home arrangement changes.

What does live-in care involve?
A carer stays in the person's home and provides the support set out in an agreed care plan. The plan reflects assessed needs, routines, preferences and practical arrangements in the home.
Does live-in care mean someone is awake all night?
No. A live-in carer needs rest and breaks, so live-in care is not continuous awake care. If the person regularly needs someone awake overnight, we discuss whether a separate waking-night arrangement is required and available.
What needs to be considered at home?
We discuss the home environment, privacy and practical arrangements for a carer to stay, rest and take breaks. These arrangements need to be suitable and agreed before the service starts.
Can a live-in carer support with medication?
Medication support must be assessed and agreed in the care plan and medication records. It is provided only within the carer's training and competence.
Will the same carer always provide support?
We aim to provide a small, familiar team. The same carer cannot be guaranteed at all times, so we discuss continuity, handovers and cover arrangements during planning.
How much does live-in care cost?
The cost depends on the assessed support, staffing and any additional overnight cover agreed. We explain the proposed arrangements and charges before you decide whether to proceed.
How soon can live-in care start?
Timing depends on assessment, suitable staffing, home arrangements and availability. Contact us with your preferred start date and we can discuss the next steps.
